Renewal Mind ("we," "our," or "the app") is a mental health and spiritual wellness application developed by Renewal Life Community Development Corporation. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

We take your privacy seriously. Mental health is deeply personal, and we have designed Renewal Mind with privacy as a foundational principle.

Information Collected Automatically

We may collect limited technical information to ensure the app functions properly:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version number
  • Crash reports and performance data (anonymized)

We do not collect your location, browsing history, contacts, photos, or any data from other apps on your device.

Voice Recordings

When you use the voice journaling feature, your audio recording is temporarily transmitted to our server for transcription (speech-to-text conversion). The transcribed text is returned to your device and stored locally. Audio recordings are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after transcription is complete.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for the following purposes:

To provide the app's core features. Your mood entries, journal content, chat messages, and assessment responses are used solely to deliver the functionality you expect — tracking your wellness, providing AI-powered support, and generating personalized recommendations.

To improve app performance. Anonymized crash reports and technical data help us identify and fix bugs. This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.

To authenticate your account. If you choose to sign in (via Google, Facebook, Apple, or email), we use your account information to maintain your session and enable cross-device sync if applicable.

We do not use your data for advertising, marketing profiling, or sale to third parties. We do not train AI models on your personal journal entries, chat messages, or assessment responses.

AI-Powered Features

Renewal Mind includes an AI companion called Mindi that provides supportive conversation and mental health guidance. When you interact with Mindi:

  • Your messages are sent to a secure AI processing service to generate responses.
  • Conversations are stored locally on your device.
  • We do not use your conversations to train or improve AI models.
  • Mindi is not a licensed therapist or medical professional. Responses are for informational and supportive purposes only.

Data Storage and Security

The vast majority of your personal data — including mood entries, journal content, prayer journal, chat history, and assessment results — is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. This means:

  • Your data stays on your phone unless you explicitly choose to sync it.
  • If you delete the app, locally stored data is permanently removed.
  • We cannot access your locally stored data.

For users who create an account, basic account information (name and email) is stored on secure servers with industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest.

We do not share your mental health data, journal entries, mood history, or assessment results with any third party.

Children's Privacy

Renewal Mind is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

Delete your data at any time. Use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings to permanently delete all locally stored information, including mood entries, journal content, chat history, and assessment results.

Use the app without an account. You can skip sign-in and use all core features without providing any personal information. No account is required.

Control biometric access. You can enable or disable Face ID / fingerprint lock in Settings at any time.

Manage notifications. You can enable or disable reminder notifications in Settings.

Delete your account. If you created an account and wish to delete it, contact us at the email address below, and we will remove all server-stored account data within 30 days.

Data Retention

Locally stored data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-stored account information is retained as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days of the request.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and notify you through the app if the changes are significant. Your continued use of Renewal Mind after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
